Yellow light plus blue light

These demonstrations with the color box illustrate that red light and green light add together to produce yellow (Y) light. Red light and blue light add together to produce magenta (M) light. Green light and blue light add together to produce cyan (C) light.


And finally, red light and green light and blue light add together to . The secondary colors of light are those colors which are formed when two primary colors are mixed in equal amounts.

And mixing red and green light in yellow light. So while re green and blue light shine upon the shirt, only red and green light will reflect from it. This discussion illustrates the process of color subtraction.


In this process, the ultimate color appearance . When you mix colors using paint, or through the printing process, you are using the subtractive color method. The primary colors of light are re green, and blue. If you subtract these from white you get cyan, magenta, and yellow.


Mixing the colors generates new colors as shown on the color wheel, or the circle on the right. Most children know the mixture of blue and yellow paints looks green. Does this also mean that the mixture of blue light and yellow light also looks green?


If not, what color should the mixture of these lights look like and why? Helmholtz was the first to explain why the mixture of yellow and blue paints looked green. We vary the intensity in each successively.


There are three primary colors of light : re green and blue. Shining them at the same surface puts them together by addition, by adding them together. Mixing the primary colors produces the intermediate or secondary colors, yellow , cyan and magenta as in the diagram below.


Equal quantitites of red and green light . Light emitted by LCD screens and other monitors is only in the re blue and green wavelengths.
