Neutral wire

The size of the current flowing depends on the potential difference ( voltage) . I am giving you my version of what the neutral wire does in your main electrical panel in your ho. It is NOT meant to accurately represent any particular electrical system used for commercial or residential service in any part of the world. It is simply showing how loads are balanced and . This picture describes the neutral wire best.

A circuit can be either star or delta connected.

Conventional current flows from thepositive terminal of the power source to the negative terminal.

In wires charge is carried by negatively charged electrons. In a normal AC service, the neutral provides the return path for current on the 120v sides, and has no function for 240v appliances. Ground should never have any current on it. The Main difference between Neutral , Ground and Earth Ground or Earth wire in overhead Transmission lines. Difference between Real Ground and Virtual Ground.

At the device, neutral is the path for return current. All the current that comes from the hot leg returns through the neutral wire. Gcse physics mains electricity what are the live, neutral and wire. This video let you know the difference between the neutral and ground wire in simple manner.

For those of us using LE Fluorescent or some other energy efficient bulbs under 20w . You can either understand the concept of the neutral wire mathematically or practically. There is no neutral wire coming from the generator nor in transmission systems. The Purpose of the Neutral Wire in Electrical Systems: What is the purpose of the neutral wire and the difference between the ground wire and the white neutral. This article discusses many common misunderstandings about the function of the neutral wire and its relation to power problems. The subjects of dedicated lines, phase reversal, isolation transformers, and grounding are addressed.

Various myths are described and criticized. In the normal three wire single phase power . In household electric circuits the standard wiring used has three individual, insulated wires inside an outer wrap of additional insulation. The Neutral and Ground are generally connected together at your service panel, not at your devices. Only two of the wires are used when the appliance works properly.

These are the live (brown ) and the neutral (blue) wires. The neutral wire completes the circuit and carries current away from .
