Boces electrical

When you successfully complete this course you will have the skills needed to become employed as an entry-level electrician helper. You will learn safe working practices, the use of hand tools and the proper use of testing equipment. Residential and commercial wiring procedures will be included.

The programs listed below require an orientation session. Registration is not necessary for orientation.

Students completing the program are prepared for careers as electricians assistants, residential electricians, industrial electricians, locomotive .

Graduates will have the foundation for working for electrical contractors in construction, electrical repair, communication or security systems.

Opportunities for employment exist with electrical contractors, cable television providers, in telecommunications, construction and remodeling, and at electrical supply houses. Career and technology courses and certificate programs are offered in the evenings, for working adults. The majority of these classes are designed so that, upon completion, students are able to take certification or licensure exams in their chosen profession. Experienced electricians are in serious demand.

Students learn the fundamentals of electrical theory, residential wiring and commercial wiring. Students will study and learn to design electrical layouts, installation methods, and the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical circuits and equipment. An educational cooperative of Long Island school districts, providing educational leadership, instruction and support through quality, cost-effective instructional programs and shared services. Admissions to the PN programs are competitive.
