Equipotential bonding

If anyone was to touch the earthed appliance an say, a tap, they would receive an electric shock. Equipotental bonding means that there would be no potental . Such is commonly used under transformer banks by power companies and under large computer installations. An earthed equipotential zone is one within which exposed conductive parts and extraneous conductive parts are maintained at substantially the same potential by bonding , such as that, under fault conditions, the difference in potential between simultaneously accessible exposed and extraneous . Bonding involves joining together all metalwork and conductive items that are or may be earthed so that it is at the same potential (voltage) everywhere.

Main protective equipotential bonding.

Earthing and bonding are two separate concepts.

Connection of the exposed- conductive-parts of an installation to the main earthing terminal of . The main earthing cables run from either the Main earthing terminal, which will be close to the consumer unit or the earth bar in the consumer unit itself, some regional electricity companies require the main bond from the service pipes to connect to their earthing point. Supplementary equipotential bonding. The rules for supplementary bonding in kitchens has been relaxed and there is no specific requirement to carry . Products for installing an earth-termination system and for establishing equipotential boding. Electrical connection maintaining . While this tale (if not entirely true) was entertaining, it did nothing to take the mystery out of grounding and bonding for me. Perhaps nowhere in the Code is this mystery more prevalent than at 680.

The purpose of supplementary protective equipotential bonding and where is typically installed. There were several new and important changes incorporated. Our courses are designed to meet the requirements of Gas Safety Training and Gas Safety Assessment. We serve gas engineers throughout Scotland including Livingston, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Paisley and Ayrshire.

We have courses specifically designed for current Gas Safe Registered gas engineers, plumbers and . A Voltimum user has worked with several employers with different takes on equipotential bonding. Richard Atkins from NICEIC provides some clarity. Find out everything you need to know with this third instalment in our g. Non-sparking lightning equipotential bonding.

Potential bonding must be consistently effective. In practice, however, conductive parts of the construction or cable tray system are often defined as “ equipotential bonding conductors”. These do not guarantee the required safe, . Grounding and potential compensation connecting bars, control and recording systems. Meaning of equipotential bonding system.
