Wiring order

It is highly recommend you duplicate the color order as shown on the left. Note how the green pair is not side-by-side as are all the other pairs. This configuration allows for longer wire runs. The diagram is shown with the hook clip on the underside.


The typical RJ-connector has six terminals.

Usually, only the middle four pins are used.

Sprea untwist the pairs, and arrange the wires in the order of the desired cable end.

Insert the wires into the RJplug - make sure each wire is fully inserted to the front of the RJplug and in the correct order.


Crimp the RJplug with the crimper tool. Verify the wires ended up the right order . No doubt this arises because there are more than one! This is currently the most popular plug used for towing as it does the lighting on most trailers and caravans.
