How to wire a 2 way switch

They are wired so that operation of either switch will control the light. Two way switching - Plastic switches. The difference is that one wire connects to L. Hi sir, how would you know the size of the cable to be used on amps fuse and what is the formula or computation.

Note that all of the other wires are left exactly as before.

At the switch , black and brown connect to the first switch to control the existing light exactly as before.

A small piece of wire connects the two COM terminals together so they are both permanently live.

The most basic circuit, with only two wires at the switch. This arrangement would typically be used in conduit, and uses two wires between each switch. This Pin was discovered by Carlos Gutierrez.

This is an alternative deprecated form (see above for the reasons) of the multi way switch wiring : MultiWaySwitchingDepricated. All the issues raised there apply here too, especially if used in stairways and the switches are on different floors.

Cable D – Tree core and Earth connecting the two two way light switches. Figure 3: Standard - Way Lighting Circuit using the Aeotec Nano Dimmer with Toggle switches. A standard - way lighting circuit is shown in Figure 1. This method can be extended for use with two way and three way switching in the same manner as shown previously. The disadvantage is the large number of wires behind the switch.

In this variation, the incoming permanenent line is connected directly to one wire of the three core cable. This core is connected to Common on the second switch. The return switched line is connected to the Common on the first . At this point you will have the Line wire of the supply cable still not connected. This wire needs to be connected to the available spare connectors. Do NOT connect the Line wire to the Line terminal because then your light would be permanently ON.

What we need is to utilise the two - way and intermediate switching available . You might find two 14- cables in the existing electrical box instead of the one we show in Photo 1. There may also be other cables present. Regardless of what you find in the existing box, the wiring for the three- way switches will not change. You only need to focus on the two wires connected to the existing . It should also help in understanding the .
