BCIT electrical engineering includes programs such as bachelor of electrical engineering (B.Eng), electrical and computer engineering technology with options in automation and instrumentation, computer control, Electrical Power and Industrial Control, and Telecommunications and Networks.

Graduates work on the design, installation, maintenance, and production of electro-mechanical devices that generate electrical power, including green power.

You could design, program , and maintain industrial control systems, working at electrical utilities including independent power producers, consulting engineering .

An inside look at the students in the electrician program at BCIT.

A strong component of the program involves the student developing relevant, practical skills by working with modern industrial equipment in well-equipped labs. This course covers the Canadian Electrical Code as amended for the Province of British Columbia, the Safety Standards Act of BC, the Safety Standards General Regulations, the Electrical Safety Regulation and the BC Safety Authority Directives. This course will familiarize students with installation and operational requirements for electrical machines and variable-frequency drives in renewable energy systems. DC machine theory and generator loading will be reviewed.

Students will be introduced to the renewable energy systems applications of Variable Frequency . Course topics include basic mathematical concepts, physics, use of scientific calculator functions that pertain to the program , detailed circuit analysis of various types of .
